I really don’t have much to write about but I thought I would stop in and make a post anyway. I have been really tired lately so I haven’t been too excited with the internet but I have been making art. I have been working on a spooky cat for an art trade, I have been playing with lampworking(making glass beads with a torch), and making more scrabble pendants. I plan to merge the lampworking in with the dolls and then selling the beads without the dolls as well. I am hoping to be able to one day be able to make real hand blown glass eyes for my dolls. Until then I will work on making a tutorial on the faux glass eyes I currently put in my dolls to share with everyone. I have got to say that I am in love with lampworking. It is so cool how the glass gets molten, turns orange and it can be sculpted and manipulated. When you watch videos on youtube people make it look so easy but it is not at all easy.

Until I have some art to share with you here are some pics I took at the zoo. One is Sebastian in the petting zoo which he loved and the other are these cool swans that make weird honking noises. My inlaws gave us a years pass to the zoo so we can go up there anytime without paying the admission or parking, it’s awesome. We plan to go back up there this weekend since the weather has been awesome with highs in the 70’s during the day and 60’s at night. I love this weather, I wish it would stay this way all summer. Comfest is this weekend also so we are gonna just take Sebastian up there in the evening and stare at all the hippies and drunk people. It’s a huge yearly party where people drink, buy from vendors and watch bands all weekend, it’s very interesting.

Since the weather has been warm I have been spending most of my time outside which is why I haven’t done much. I haven’t really worked on any dolls or sculpture but I plan to. I did learn to fuse glass in my kiln. It is always so fun to learn something new when it has to do with art. :)

I have decided to open up a new etsy shop to just sell my pendants in because I really love making pendants. I will be selling pendants of my paintings, drawings, photography and various other images I can use on pendants. I am currently only selling scrabble pendants but that will change as I make more and stock up my store. I figured I would separate out my pendants from my other art so people looking for specific things like jewelry or sculptures wouldn’t have to search through all of the stuff that they aren’t interested in. :) I am not quitting the spooky sculptures, I am just supplementing my art. I plan to continue to make sculptures and paintings, hopefully more while also making pendants. Please check it out:

Here is a sneak peak of the new girl sculpture I just finished. I have a picture of her with no arms on the April 1st post of this blog. She is in my Etsy Shop.

I hope everyone likes her. I didn’t like her when I first started painting her but now I like her a lot.

I have been messing around with making pendants again and when I was creating a painting I came across this old drawing in one of my drawing pads. I am hoping this will encourage people who really want to be an artist to stick with it. This is what I was drawing like when I started back to doing art in 2002. I remember at the time that I was proud of this drawing I colored in Photoshop. I actually thought it was awesome and now I look at it and wonder what I was thinking. I still have a long way to go but I sure have come a long way since then. Don’t let the negative thoughts overtake your confidence, just stick with it and don’t give it up. Draw and doodle where you can. Carry an art journal with you and try to draw what you see. Take a drawing class at the local community college, I did and I learned a lot even though I hated drawing the still lifes the teacher made us draw. When she let us do our own I always would go home and put together one with a clown or doll and the other students actually liked my dark themes. You actually get to know most of the people in the class by the end, you all end up being friends which kind of made me wish I would have went to art school, oh well, that ship has sailed I guess.

Here is the new jester I have been working on. He came out better than I expected. I really didn’t like him before he was painted. If I discarded everything that I didn’t like, I would throw all my work in the trash. I never like my work in the beginning, especially my paintings. I have learned just to stick with it to see what it will become.

I just put him up on Etsy

Our local news station has a big problem with breaking into shows when there is a tornado or thunderstorm. They used to just put a little notice in the upper left hand side of the screen but now they break in and talk about the same thing for 45 minutes. They did it last night for 45 minutes during the time when Ghost Whisperer was on. The thing that troubled me was that the storm wasn’t even in the local viewing area, it was in the far northeast part of the state. They kept repeating what to do in case of a tornado over and over. Then when 9pm finally came and Ghost Whisperer was over, they were done with all their hot air. I guess if it isn’t sports or nascar ruining my shows, now it is the local weather guys. Can’t people just go on the internet or view the weather channel?

I was upset last night so I did some searching and found a site that has full episodes for ghost whisperer, CBS or itunes does not. So for people that are in Columbus that missed Ghost Whisperer because of the boring channel 10 news weather talk or anyone else that missed the show, here is the latest episode from last night split into two 30 minute pieces with NO commercials. It is not the greatest quality but at least you can view the show you missed without waiting for summer reruns.

Here are the works in progress I have on my desk at the moment. I did some major sculpting on Sunday so I managed to get 3 sculptures started. I wish I could sculpt like that every day.

Here is a sculpture I am working on currently. I think he kind of looks creepy with the eyes in like that. :)

I have wanted to make a cloth doll since the time I began making dolls back in 2005. Every time I tried to make one I would rip out what I just had sewn when turning it inside out and stuffing it, so I gave up. I saw the Martha show when Emily from The Black Apple was on so I wanted to give it another try. Emily’s process helped me out a bit to not rip the dolls anymore. I have had to modify it to work with me because some things weren’t working for me. I sketched out my own pattern and her legs turned out really long. You gotta love her wild hair.

So here she is so far:
